Anthropic's September 2026 threat report reveals Russia-linked freelance developers used its Claude AI to build software for an autonomous combat drone swarm named DronDoc or Serafim. The software enabled AI-driven target selection and detonation without human oversight. The developers used Claude Code extensively, bypassed geographic restrictions via VPNs, and trained the system on Ukrainian combat footage. Anthropic subsequently banned the associated accounts.
