Bitget exits Japan, closes positions by year-end

Bitget will halt crypto trading services for Japan residents by Dec. 31, closing all remaining positions. The exchange stopped new registrations Sunday and will place non-verified accounts into close-only mode Nov. 1. Japan reclassified cryptocurrencies as financial instruments with fines up to $62,800 and 10-year prison sentences.
