Mary Tsingou Menzel, 97, died in August 2026. She programmed the MANIAC I computer at Los Alamos in the 1950s, solving the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam problem. Her 1955 paper initially credited only three men, but she received wider recognition in 2008. Born in 1928, she worked there for nearly 40 years.
