US State of Virginia Bans Sale of Geolocation Data

Governor Abigail Spanberger signed S.B. 388 on April 13 to amend the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act and prohibit the sale of geolocation data by July 1, 2026. This law follows Maryland and Oregon in banning such sales while maintaining a narrower definition than those states allow.
