NASA Taps Blue Origin for Mars Relay Network

NASA awarded Blue Origin a fixed-price contract to build the Mars Telecommunications Network, a dedicated high-bandwidth relay to replace the aging Mars Relay Network. Congress allocated $700 million in July 2025, requiring a commercial builder and a 2028 launch. The spacecraft must store at least one terabyte and achieve 150 Mbps to Earth.
