KAIST researchers found AI agents consume up to 136.5 times more energy per query than conventional generative AI models. A single 70-billion-parameter agent query uses 348.41 watt-hours. Modeling 13.7 billion daily requests would require 198.9 gigawatts of electricity, nearly half of total US power consumption.
