The UK government is creating a new unit within the Office for the Prime Minister and Cabinet to coordinate insourcing of critical service contracts, including technology-heavy business processes. The move follows Capita's troubled takeover of the £239 million Civil Service Pension Scheme contract in December 2025, which left some former civil servants unable to access pensions.
