The Soviet Union launched the final crewed Almaz station, Salyut 5, on June 22, 1976. Soyuz 21 crew Boris Volynov and Vitaly Zholobov suffered sensory deprivation. A third mission failed to dock and nearly crashed into water. The crewed program was canceled after Salyut 5.
