Meta Plans 1 Pbps Transatlantic Subsea Cable

Meta will build Petal, a subsea cable linking France and the US at 1 petabit per second, double its 0.5 Pbps Anjana system. Using 48 fiber pairs and two-core fiber, it is set for service in 2029 with NEC, Sumitomo Electric and Orange. The cable targets rising European connectivity demand.
