Xiaomi plans $5.6B R&D, unveils MiMo AI model

Xiaomi Group president Lu Weibing announced plans to invest RMB 200 billion ($27.8 billion) in R&D over five years. 2026 R&D spending is projected at RMB 40 billion ($5.6 billion). The company also unveiled its self-developed MiMo foundation model at the 2025 Human, Car, Home Ecosystem Partner Conference.
