Semi-Conductor Laboratory in Mohali will retain its 180nm chipmaking process despite a ₹4,500 crore modernization plan approved in November 2025. Director general Kamaljeet Singh said upgrading to 90nm or 110nm would triple investment and require closing the fab for three to four years.
