Raindrops Can Zap Car Paint With 9,000 Volts

Raindrops sliding across insulated surfaces can collect up to 9,000 volts and discharge on metal, eating through Teflon and copper coatings. Researchers tested copper, gold, plant leaves, PVC foam, polystyrene glass, and PFOTS-coated quartz, finding corrosion on all metals regardless of coating thickness.
