Microsoft Turns On Windows Settings Backup by Default

Microsoft now enables Windows settings backup by default on Entra-joined enterprise devices upgraded to Windows 11 26H2, which released September 29. The policy applies only where admins have not explicitly configured it, and excludes EU DMA-regulated regions and sovereign clouds. Restore stays admin-controlled, and IT can still disable backup via Intune or Group Policy.
