PlanetScale offers three-way merge for database schema branches, similar to Git but for schemas. Developers branch the main database, make changes in dev environments, and create deploy requests. The system uses Vitess's schemadiff library to generate semantic diffs and enqueues approved changes for non-blocking deployment.
