RSCI scientists develop 'first of its kind' artificial heart valve

Researchers at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences developed a synthetic mitral valve that mimics the valve's complex mechanical properties and operates under realistic heart pressures and flow conditions. The model allows control over tension and thickness of valve parts. It is on display at RCSI's Humanarium.
