AI boom debt supply surges as investor demand plunges

Hyperscalers Alphabet, Meta, Amazon, and Oracle have issued over $300 billion in bonds since 2025. Investor demand is falling, with cover ratios dropping from nearly 5x in February 2026 to below 2x in July. Amazon sweetened a $25 billion bond sale by offering extra yield after orders fell to 2.5 times the bonds on offer.
