Z80 Turns 50, Open-Source Replacement Nears

The Zilog Z80, an iconic 8-bit processor that debuted in July 1976, turned 50. Zilog stopped accepting orders in June 2024. Renaldas Zioma's open-source Z80 replacement now has working silicon, with a drop-in DIP40 version targeting machines like the ZX Spectrum and RC2014 kits.
