System76 founder Carl Richell wants to liberate the entire PC stack, estimating it will take another 15 years. The 20-year-old company builds vertically integrated Linux-first hardware in a Denver factory, funded by reinvested profits and loans, not venture capital. Richell declined to bolt AI onto everything.
