A Windows cumulative update caused a boot loop that on-disk repair could not fix. A pre-made recovery drive booted independently, allowing manual troubleshooting via Safe Mode, update removal, and DISM commands. The recovery drive restored the Windows install in about ten minutes, avoiding a full reinstall that would destroy accumulated setup, settings, and license activations.
