AI bots mimicking dead loved ones preferred by users

A University of Colorado Boulder study found that grieving users prefer AI chatbots that speak in the first person as deceased loved ones over third-person narrators. The research, presented at the ACM Designing Interactive Systems Conference in June, involved 16 participants who found the first-person mode more emotionally vivid despite concerns about psychological dependency.
