Windows Subsystem for Linux and upcoming native container support make Windows the easiest platform for running Linux containers. WSL 2 uses Hyper-V, a Level 1 hypervisor, for direct hardware access. The move weakens paid Docker Desktop while keeping developers on Windows with free WSL.
