Linux containers (LXCs) on Proxmox share the host kernel, eliminating the memory and disk overhead of a full guest OS per service. LXCs start faster, reduce maintenance, and use fewer resources than VMs for lightweight services like Pi-hole and Uptime Kuma. Unprivileged containers are the safer default for most home lab workloads.
