Fly.io's fly-proxy Rust program suffered elevated HTTP errors and CPU spikes on edge servers in IAD. A profile revealed Rust tracing's Subscriber dominated CPU usage, causing the issue. Bouncing the proxy temporarily fixed it, but the problem recurred until the root cause was identified.
