Coldcard Firmware Flaw Tied to $70M Bitcoin Theft

An attacker drained 1,082.65 BTC worth about $70.2 million from 1,196 Bitcoin addresses on July 30, exploiting a Coldcard firmware flaw from Coinkite. A March 2021 integration error routed seed generation to a software PRNG instead of the STM32 hardware RNG. Coinkite shipped emergency firmware July 31.
