Meta Muse Image Lets Users Deepfake Instagram Friends

Meta launched Muse Image on July 7, 2026, allowing users to @-mention any public Instagram account in prompts to generate AI images of that person without consent or notification. The feature is enabled by default for public accounts over 18. Users can opt out via Instagram settings, but existing AI images are not deleted.
