Solana Alpenglow Upgrade Goes Live

Solana launched its Alpenglow consensus protocol on Wednesday at slot 459,653,000, replacing TowerBFT. Core developer Anza stated transactions now become irreversible in about 150 milliseconds, down from 12.8 seconds. This marks the largest blockchain upgrade since Ethereum's 2022 Merge, cutting confirmation latency significantly for exchanges and banks.
