Mathematician Finds New Eight-Faced Polyhedron

Independent mathematician Ruslan Mizhaev has constructed a genus-3 polyhedron, an eight-faced shape where every pair of faces shares at least one edge. The preprint, not yet peer-reviewed, details 24 vertices and 26 edges. While it does not overturn existing conjectures, a University of Edinburgh mathematician calls the construction commendable, as such shapes have always been difficult to build.
