Linux 7.4 introduces a portable performance optimization for RISC-V hardware by moving software alignment skipping to run-time via HAVEEFFICIENTUNALIGNEDACCESS. This change allows generic kernel builds to utilize the feature, offering up to an 11% bandwidth improvement compared to the Linux 7.3 kernel which required compile-in support. The update also adds support for crash hot-plug and several new ISA extensions.
