The National Council on Problem Gambling is defending Kalshi's membership after the prediction market donated $2 million and joined in June. NCPG President Derek Longmeier said Tuesday that prediction markets are functionally gambling and carry the same risks as traditional betting. The council's programs director, Jaime Costello, resigned over the membership amid mounting pressure.
