Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group will launch Emut Bank in early 2027, Japan's first digital bank from a major financial institution to drop ATM cards entirely. Customers must verify identity through the smartphone app, with no PC banking, as cyberattacks and phishing rise. Emut will access roughly 28,000 Seven Bank ATMs, later expanding to about 16,000 FamilyMart machines.
