Cardano activated the van Rossem hard fork on Saturday, upgrading the mainnet to version 11. The upgrade lowers smart contract execution costs and lays the groundwork for Ouroboros Leios, a scalability upgrade expected in late 2026. It is the first governance-driven hard fork in Cardano's history.
