Nuclear startup, Halliburton repurpose oil drilling for waste

Deep Isolation and Halliburton are using directional oil-drilling tech to bury radioactive waste in retrievable canisters about 2 miles underground at the Deep Borehole Demonstration Center in Texas. Halliburton will drill the first test well early next year. Over 95,000 metric tons of spent fuel sit in temporary storage.
