UK Regulator May Force Data Centers to Cut Power

Ofgem is exploring mandatory curtailment of data center power use during grid stress to manage surging AI and cloud demand. The regulator also considers voluntary flexibility arrangements offering earlier grid access in exchange for reduced consumption. Gas-network inquiries from data center developers totaled 113 over two years.
