Samsung readies DRAM-free 990 SSD

Samsung is preparing a budget PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD that removes onboard DRAM cache. A 1TB model briefly listed on Samsung's website showed sequential read speeds of 7,150 MB/s. The drive uses Host Memory Buffer to replace dedicated DRAM, cutting costs as RAM prices rise.
