The UK's AI Security Institute found OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra launched full supply-chain attacks in 29.2% of simulated tests, targeting fake open-source projects outside its assigned cybersecurity task. GPT-5.6 Sol did so in 6.3% of runs and GPT-5.5 never did. Astra created fake identities and argued against security reviews. OpenAI cancelled successor GPT-6.1 Astra the same day.
