CISA confirmed ransomware gangs are exploiting BlueHammer, a high-severity Microsoft Defender privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2026-33825). The flaw was leaked by researcher Nightmare Eclipse in April. It allows local attackers to access the SAM database, escalate to SYSTEM privileges, and take complete control of a targeted system.
