A seed-generation bug in Coldcard wallets went unnoticed for years, enabling attackers to steal 1,596 bitcoin worth over $100 million from about 7,300 addresses. The flaw, introduced in a 2021 firmware update, sent wallets to a weaker software random generator instead of the hardware one.
