Chinese universities cut language majors for AI programs

Chinese universities are cutting foreign language and translation programs to launch new majors in embodied intelligence and low-altitude economy. A May survey tracked 70 universities and found cuts in eight Japanese, five German, and five translation studies programs. AI translation tools are driving the shift.
