Govt warns of deepfake PM Modi fraud

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre warned on Monday of financial fraud using manipulated videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other officials on Facebook and Instagram. Fraudsters lured victims with fake cashback rewards and taxes, extracting money via UPI collect requests or OTPs. Victims often made repeated payments, resulting in substantial cumulative losses.
