ByteDance's Doubao Phone Assistant has launched its consumer version, featuring screen-based Q&A, local search across photos, messages, and notes, and voice activation. The update includes a beta 'operate phone' feature using the SAEP protocol, which lets third-party apps set boundaries for AI-driven automation. The first consumer version will be available on the nubia NaviX Ultra, scheduled to go on sale on Sept. 16.
