Google Cuts ChromeOS Support to Eight Years

Google has quietly reduced ChromeOS support for new Chromebooks from ten years to eight, according to a support document. Devices bought today will receive updates until 2034, not a decade. Migration paths to the new Googlebook OS are promised but not yet available, and will require new management licenses. The change makes continued Chromebook use less attractive.
