MIT Tool Predicts Suicide Risk From Text

MIT researchers built a language-processing tool that predicts suicide risk from crisis-counselor text chats, analyzing about 16,000 de-identified Crisis Text Line conversations. It flags imminent risk, defined as intent within 48 hours, using a lexicon tied to 49 risk factors. The interpretable model runs on a personal computer and is shared for further validation.
