Greg Casar introduced the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, which would ban developing artificial superintelligence and pause advanced frontier models until a scientist-led Department of Artificial Intelligence oversees the technology. Violators, including rogue actors, would face up to 20 years in prison, similar to penalties for unlawfully developing nuclear weapons.
