Android 17 Beta Hints at Google Account Unlock

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 contains code for an "Unlock with Google Account" feature that would let locked-out users recover phones without a factory reset. Google removed similar pattern unlock resets after Android 4.4. The optional feature would balance convenience for everyday consumers with security for cautious users. Google released the beta last week.
