Linux 7.4 Boosts Btrfs Compression Speed
1 min read
Linux 7.4 delivers performance gains for the Btrfs file system, offering slightly faster Zstd decompression with minor speed-ups around 8MB/s. The update reduces inode extent map lock contention, potentially cutting processing time by 10-20% during shrinker operations. Additionally, reflink speeds improve via reordered locking and flushing optimizations for common cases alongside various bug fixes.
