Sigil Wen launches Underdog, a private AI assistant running on Macs and Windows PCs, on Monday. The startup, Conway Research, uses a 27-billion parameter model fine-tuned from Qwen3.8 27B. Backed by investors including Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, the app is free initially and takes a tiny percentage of payment transactions instead of subscriptions or ads.
