Hijax types let JAX users define custom aggregate types that appear as single values in jaxprs, with controlled construction, custom tangent types, and built-in sharding. A quantized array example shows subclassing HiType, registering a value class, and writing primitives that enforce invariants. The feature is experimental under jax.experimental.hijax.
