German consortium releases open 30B AI model

A German research consortium released Soofi S 30B-A3B, an open language model trained on Deutsche Telekom's cloud infrastructure in Munich. The model uses a hybrid architecture activating only a fraction of its 31.6 billion parameters per token. Training weighted toward German lets it top all open competitors on both German and English benchmarks.
