School shooting survivor sues Omnilert over failed AI gun detection

Omnilert's AI gun detection system failed to identify a handgun at a Nashville high school in January 2025. The lawsuit claims the system has limitations from camera placement, lighting, and weapon visibility. Omnilert and System Integrations were sued after the weapon was not detected despite a $1M MNPS contract for the technology. The company's website previously claimed the system could have prevented a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School-style tragedy.
