Chrome Adds JPEG XL Support in 155
5 min read
Google Chrome fully supports JPEG XL in version 155, following its debut in Chrome 145 via a Rust decoder. This shift follows earlier removal in late 2022 and initial adoption by Apple in 2023. The format offers 30-50% better compression than JPEG, though users may face compatibility issues with older software.
